Now that Autumn is here my thoughts as always turn to leaves. I love leaves in Spring but there is something magical and wistful in the rich colour and interesting textures of leaves as they come quietly to the end of their useful lives. But Spring is always close at hand as every branch covered in rich autumn colour is already forming new buds that will wait patiently for the shortest day to pass heralding the approach of a new year.
I have been experimenting with leaves and leaf shapes to make some prints and rubbings on paper and fabric. The prints on fabric will be further embellished with paint and stitch to emulate the richness of colour and texture."

At the moment my textile time is focused on completing my exhibition pieces leaving little time for other textile work, as I am keen to protect time to continue to develop my botanical painting skills. I have recently retuned from a week away in our motor-home. My partner was gliding all day leaving me hours of peace and quiet to practise drawing and painting. Our motor-home is not large and I have not yet taken the sewing machine but will be trying that next year! Although as well as painting I can always hand stitch of course. And it is ideas for hand stitched pieces to work on when the exhibition pieces are finished that are whirling around my head.
Below are some of the images that are tempting me at the moment, together with some of the lovely yarns that I plan to use.
