Val Chambers
I have been an enthusiastic maker of things for as long as I can remember. Discovering drawing and painting led to a lifelong interest in the visual arts. For me textile art provides the perfect combination of craft with art.
The natural environment provides a major source of influence in my work but my love of narrative and story means that people often appear in one form or another. I enjoy experimenting with abstract and representative visual ideas using fabric, yarns, dyes and paint, although final work usually retains a representative element.
“But it's important to make art because perhaps the people who get the most out of art are the ones that make it.” Grayson Perry; Playing to the Gallery, p72.
