Sabi Westoby
I am a textile and mixed media artist, combining paper and stitch, paint and fabric.
I am inspired by both the natural and man-made worlds, working in series to fully explore the potential of ideas, colours and textures. My last major body of work, developed from a single photograph of a red poppy, led to 18 wall hangings and a successful solo exhibition. My work is held in private collections in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom and has been featured in several publications.
At present I am developing a new body of works based on Dryden's translation of Virgil's Georgics with a view to exhibiting in group shows, including All Threaded Together.
I am also a member of the Quilters' Guild, the Contemporary Quilt Group, New Horizons Textile Group and SAQA
