Gill Austen-Smith
Biography
I started with patchwork and quilting many years ago and over time, I have learnt various different textile techniques. I particularly enjoy machine and hand stitch and embellishment.
I regularly create wall-hangings, fabric cards, quilts, fabric books and snippet rolls. My inspiration comes from putting colours together harmoniously, using my dyed material and adding stitch.
More recently, I have been concentrating on Japanese techniques, taking part in workshops with Janice Gunner, Jane Callender and Rob Jones, covering Shibori indigo dying and stenciling.
