Autumn Trees
I started this representation of Autumnal changes at an Aspects of Stitch workshop with Nodeen Salmon. The background is painted calico. The trunks, branches and leaves are free machine embroidery.

Greenland Ice-Sheet Decay
The Greenland ice sheet has seen many changes over the past thirty years. Some of the permanent ice has gone, there is more water run-off, there are more fresh water lakes high on the ice. I completed this piece for the exhibition which should have taken place in 2020. Since then there have been further melting episodes. People are aware this could lead to raised sea levels. It also leads to the North Atlantic being less salty, probably reducing ocean currents such as the Gulf Stream.
This piece uses appliqué of green, grey and cream fabric on a blue background. Details were added using free machine embroidery

Birds
In 2020 I moved house. This was a time of considerable change for me. I now have a garden where I can watch the birds. The images represent some of the smaller birds I have seen.
The birds are hand embroidered on dyed cotton fabric, using two strands of stranded embroidery thread
