Seascape
Using up material cut offs is something I enjoy doing. Organising strips of colour, quickly gave rise to a seascape but keeping it simple.
The addition of free machine stitching to add some focus and depth completes the scene.

Lighthouse
Coastal scenes are a draw for me, layering fabrics to create a feeling without being too prescriptive.
Embellishing the foreground to give a sense of distance.

Woodland
This work started out as a triptych with an emphasis on vertical lines. Whilst searching for fabrics, I came across some batik I’d made with trees in mind. I added to these with fabrics painted with acrylics and some scrim, giving the trees credence with addition of free machine stitching without losing the character of the batik. The feeling of a woodland slowly emerged.
